SCIENTISTS CREATE THE PAINT ANTIGRAFFITI UNAM

Perhaps you have already, ... Just paint the front of his house, with the cost that this entails, and barely dried the wall when someone "decided to create" a wall, right next to your door.
If you have ever had this kind of attack on his property, he has no recourse but to paint again (or get used to scribble on your wall left).

To counteract the "genius of graffiti on the campus of the Institute of Physics, National Autonomous University of Mexico (IF-UNAM), based in Juriquilla, Querétaro, Dr. Victor Manuel Castaño, and the Dr. Rogelio Rodríguez Talavera, Department of Applied Physics and Advanced Technology, and a group of researchers have developed the first anti graffiti Mexican painting called Deletum 3000.

After several years of working with polymeric materials, plastics that are widely used in industry, including for the manufacture of paints, Dr. Brown and his team were able to control the process separation of the components of a liquid mixture - -like water and oil - known as the phenomenon of segregation. Since this also applies to the paintings, whose components may have oleophobic characteristics (who reject the oils) or hydrophobic (they repel water), researchers took advantage of that knowledge to create the separation, or segregation, oleophobic and hydrophobic components of a mixture and make a paint that dry to a surface with features of rejection. "This way, when someone tries to deface over that surface with a paint that has water-based (such as latex) or oil (such as enamels), simply do not get it," says Dr. Brown.

Since the level of protection of anti graffiti paint can be controlled during processing, handling specialist recommends a formula that does not prevent completely the work of "taggers" because this "would lead him to anger" or cause violence. Instead, states would be more convenient to use a mixture accepts the application of graffiti, but allowing a quick and easy cleanup with a jet of water, or that the graffiti can be removed with adhesive tape, of course without harming the original coating.

Although Dr. Brown explained that this type of anti graffiti paintings exist at international level in recent years, the technology developed in the IF-UNAM has several features to be emphasized. This is Mexican technology and its price is as accessible as any good quality paint. Referring to the patent, the researcher notes that this is still pending and be in the hands of the UNAM. However, at present, has begun negotiating the first agreement with a company to license its production Queretaro, with the aim of which is available on the market commercially in 2002. Therefore, on 30 November, IF-UNAM was visited by the rector of the UNAM, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, and the governor of Querétaro, Ignatius Loyola, in order to formalize an agreement with the company's Industrial Coatings shoal, which will market the product nationwide from next year.
