The first time I tried to meditate, have much information on it. I had read, heard, seen movies, and everyone was talking about peace of mind, the division between body and mind, intense colors and bright lights, deep sounds and emotions that come from deeper inside himself in order , an extrasensory experience, unusual.
Sitting in the middle of the room, with comfortable clothes on giant cushions, in a quiet, making breathing corresponding guided by my instructor, leaving me, I felt nothing more than a cramp in his right leg. No lights, no colors, and emotions: a cramp.
Over the day the trial was repeated with exact same results. Given the right conditions, with the right method, with the right person and above all with the desire and intention to do so, I only got cramps.
frustration as if it were not already very big, my fellow meditators shared experiences full of special effects, was disarmed in tears of emotion and repeated more or less the same words loaded with meaning and sentimentality.
view of the evidence, I had no choice but to conclude that all lied. Not by malice, or conscious, but they all lied. Books, movies, who recommended me to start, my instructor, my teammates. Surely they did not maliciously or make me feel bad to me, but they lied. They were so eager to feel something special, that they persuaded themselves that they were feeling and part of that belief was put lip service.
Once sure of this, I put aside the frustration and sadness that I did not feel the same as others, to make way for mocking laughter, the cynical view and condescending remark every time I came to tell you something related. This made the process much easier. It was not that I'm not wrong, but that what there was much talk
is much easier to go through life believing that what we are not going to be looking there it seems is not coming.
(Who says a day now, while taking the time to meditation and nap time, all barriers are falling and you have a supernatural experience.)
